Norwegian Fjords, Charms and Traditions

Priscilla 19 March 2020
The entire tour went very smoothly. All instructions and directions on where to get picked up for the tours were clear and easy to follow. The hotels that were booked were all excellent and comfortable. Our guide Johann was very nice and kept the entire group on schedule. Bobby was great with all the bookings and returned my emails with excellent timing. Overall it was a great experience and I would book it through Nordic Saga again in the future.

Our Scandinavian tour was just fantastic. We got to experience the best of this beautiful part of the world in a short period of time. It was a bit of everything – amazing nature, good food, beautiful cities…. Our guide was terrific with her friendliness, knowledge and enthusiasm. All the hotels were very comfortable and good European standard. Overall, it was great experience! Thank you Nordic saga for arranging it for us.

Norwegian Fjords and Coastline

There are pros & cons to going on a Baltic Sea cruise during late fall. Worked with Susie Main and she put together a seamless tour, but there are things to note: The Moby started out in Helsinki & is more of an old ferry so DO NOT expect any real high-end accommodations (definitely upgrade to Commodore cabin, you'll thank me! Be prepared for rowdy guests to be stumbling around all through the night with no staff to monitor the barrage of noise in the halls.) Going solo is a challenge because I was maybe the only English speaking guest and culturally in this society, nobody will engage
in light convo with strangers, unfortunately there was no organized situation to seat certain groups together. The meal plan is unusual in that you receive vouchers for breakfast and dinners (although it's stated that dinner is at 7pm, print out a ticket around 6pm, and wait, they open up earlier so that you have the full buffet at your disposal, as they can run out of items). And no such thing as unlimited food at your disposal, once your leave the restaurant. Was prepared to have a St. Petersburg group tour and to my shock and surprise I was on a private 3-day tour: the very knowledgeable guide Ludmila, driver, & me! Needless to say, we covered a lot of ground with a few extra stops! Being that this is a no-frills ferry boat, luckily had a 2-night stay in luxury accommodations at the Sokos Palace Bridge hotel in St. Petersburg, which included a wonderful breakfast in the morning and an amazing pool/sauna/fitness club at my disposal. Prepare for rainy, very cold days if going late October, early November. Therefore unfortunately, the extraordinary fountains of the Peterhof were closed for the season, so there should have been a better substitution because it's really all about the grounds. Considering my upgrade, the "authentic" Russian dinner should have been more upscale and surprisingly lunches are not included but my guide took me to some nice places where the locals go. For Tallinn, Estonia there were no English tours to book on board, but not to worry, found a midday free walking tour by "tourist info" in the town square (definitely stop there, lots to do for the 9 hours before boarding ship). Next day we disembarked in Stockholm to end the trip. Note: synchronize your clock to Russian time while on the boat. For priority disembarking, talk to upper management so that they alert security with your name & you don't have to race downstairs with heavy luggage, have them give you a head start with the correct elevator bank to the lower floor. That was a ridiculous fiasco.
