Hey Alex... We are back from our vacation and i just want to tell you how fantastic it was. first of all, the Scandic Marski in Helsinki was fantastic. our room was beautiful, the location was spectacular and the people there were top notch. we arrived and were greeted warmly and quickly checked in. we asked right away about leaving our giant suitcases with them while we went to Russia and they were very accommodating. the overnight ferry was great. best way to travel ever. when we arrived in St. Petersburg, after we got through passport control, we boarded our shuttle and went straight to our hotel. very convenient and easy.

I want to thank you for such a marvelous trip to Russia. The hotel was awesome – could not have been any better. My brother met the Hotel manager at a bar one night, and the next day he met us for breakfast and took us on a tour of the Taleon, into places most people don’t usually get to see. The room was comfortable and the service was impeccable. On Victory Day, I had my hair styled in the hotel salon and enjoyed a fabulous dinner of caviar on the terrace of the hotel while watching the parade.

Hi Susie! Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time in Vilnius. Everything worked smoothly! We liked the city a lot! The hotel was good. Nice, clean, big rooms and friendly staff. The hotel was located in a very quiet area in the old town, 7-8 min walk from the Cathedral Square. The sightseeing was also good. A lady called Ona walked with us for two hours and taught us a lot of Vilnius' history. We tried to ask a bit about recent history, but it didn't seem like she was too eager to talk about post-2nd WW stuff. Thanks for all the help with the hotel! - Berit -

Hi Dora: We are back from our beautiful vacation. Thanks so much for organizing it. Everything went well; airport transfers, hotels, good tour guides, etc. We really enjoy our time there and learned a lot about its history. The food was delicious and the people were friendly. Hi Dora, I'm at Sheremetyevo waiting for my flight back to New York. We left Masha Ganina in St. Petersburg yesterday, and she asked me to give you details of our stay there. I'll put together a full report when I get home. For now, let me just say that Masha was wonderful as always. She arranged for us to visit School 207 just a few blocks from our hotel and close to Nevsky, and that went very well. The kids we met there were younger than my group, but that turned out to be a plus. The fifth and sixth graders wanted to show off their English to our students, and they were prepared with questions and presentations about their city and country in English. Our students were delighted to be in the role of older brothers and sisters to them, and we had lunch in the school cafeteria afterward. The hockey game was a great success, especially because our kids were getting a little weary of museums and wanted some excitement and noise. St. Petersburg SKA lost to a team called Atlant (from Moscow Oblast, I think), but the crowd was enthusiastic and well behaved. (You can't eat or drink anything in the stands at Russian hockey games, and they'll even stop you from bringing in a candy bar, so that seems to keep people from being too rowdy.) There were also a lot of women in the audience, which surprised me, and the stadium camera projected couples on the jumbo display during breaks and instructed them to potselovat' as everyone cheered.
